Lake Bomoseen is located on the western side of Vermont by it's New York border. There are many different routes to the lake and since you are on vacation we suggest you explore some of them. These directions are for our friends in southern New England. You may also want to go to one of the sites like Mapquest or Yahoo Maps and put in the location "CASTLETON CORNERS, Vermont, You're final destination will be approx. 7 miles north of the intersection of Rte 4 and Rte 30,(Castleton Corners Vermont).
Depending on your interests, there are:
Scenic routes. NY Rte 22 through to Ny Rte 7 to Vt Rte 9 to Bennington, then VT Rte 7 to Manchester, to VT Rte 30 to Lake Bomoseen.
Shopping: If your travels bring you up during the day and you enjoy little shops and antiques you might like Rte 7 through MA to Manchester VT and then VT Rte 30. How about stopping in the historic Stockbridge MA area and having lunch at the Red Lion Inn. You could retrace the steps of Arlo Guthrie with his song about "Alice's Restaurant". While you go through Bennington you have a chance to visit Lincoln's Hilendine Mansion, see Hemming's Auto Museum, or visit (Poet) Robert Frost's final resting place. Later in Manchester VT you could check out the factory outlets, but don't forget The Jelly Mill, Orvis, and the Manchester Woodworkers shop. This is all Norman Rockwell's territory and you may feel his inspiration.
Once at the lake you will be approx. 45 minutes from Lake George, about 25 minutes from Killington and Pico, 30 minutes north is Middlebury VT. I would suggest a visit to the Welcome Center on Rte 4 @ the border of NY and VT for more information about your particular interests.
